The Silver Cup is, without a doubt, our favorite place in Harpenden. Combining Michelin-level cooking from Matt with warm, family-style hospitality from Olivia, this Common-side gem has marked all our family’s milestones—and remains one of the absolute best reasons we call this town home.

Located just past the official border in Kinsbourne Green, The Fox is a local favourite with a wonderfully welcoming service team and a cozy bar. But does the food match the hospitality? We paid a Sunday visit to put their specials and slow-cooked pork belly to the test—and walked away with some very mixed feelings.

Tucked off Leyton Road, the Waffle House is a beautifully run, family-friendly oasis that will win over even the most ardent waffle skeptics. With superb ingredient sourcing that elevates simple breakfast classics and a clever layout that keeps the toddler-and-dog chaos contained, it is one of the most reliable lunch spots in town—just watch out for the late opening hours.
